Falls "kommen" vorgegeben ist, dann ist es gut, falls nicht, könnte auch "to appear", also in past tense "appeared" = "erschien" verwendet werden.
> b)tried to; wanted - nicht ganz...
Wenn der Mann mit dem Bart nicht deutlich gesprochen hat, dann kommt "did not" oder verkürzt "didn't" in die Lücke.

Der Großvater sagte, der Geist wäre schneller?
Oder könnte es sein, dass der Großvater "dachte", der Geist wäre schneller?
